Why 29?

29 Native Americans received the Medal of Honor during their service to our nation.

What are we doing.

On January 30th and 31st, Project Echelon will conduct rides and runs across America and on virtual platforms to raise awareness for the growth and needed support of the Native American Veterans Association (NAVA).  To continue our mission of educating, equipping, and empowering veterans and their communities, Project Echelon will raise funds and awareness for NAVA. NAVA is a 501c3 non-profit that provides Native American Veterans aid in their transition from a warrior's journey to civilian life through readjustment assistance, strengthening family ties, links to mental health and wellness services, and career and educational training.

Project Echelon will also share the stories of the 29 Native American Medal of Honor recipients and several other facts about Native Americans' military service to the United States throughout the month of January.  Project Echelon will display these stories and facts through our Instagram and Facebook accounts.

What you can do.

  • Participate in one of the physical activity options to honor the 29 Medal of Honor recipients who are Native American.  Upload your ride, run, or other activity to Strava (see below for the steps with Strava).
    • Ride for 29 miles.
    • Run/Walk/Hike for 29 or 2.9 miles.
    • Complete ANY physical activity for 29 minutes.
    • Note: If you are not equipped/capable to accomplish one of these options all at once, feel free to complete it as a relay, break it up over multiple days, or get creative in another way (example: play 29 sets of tennis).
  • If you post to social media, please tag @ProjectEchelonRacing and use #RacingForVeterans #29for2021
  • Donate.  All proceeds from this event will go to NAVA.  Make sure you add a note stating your donation is for the 29for2021 fundraiser.
  • If you are wondering about other ways you can help (ride with, support, etc.) please reach out through the contact us page to find out what you can do!
